Dive San Carlos

Dive San Carlos the Best way you can, with qualified, caring instructors.

Johan Broere

Hello, I was born in Holland in 1961 in a little town called Kinderdijk, where all the windmills are. I went to Agriculture College and achieved a BA specializing in Dairy. Then I immigrated to Canada where I owned and operated a cheese factory, beef farm, trained horses and made jerky. Not one after another, but all at the same time. So, after retiring to Mexico I picked up diving. I met Russ in 2007 and I borrowed my first wetsuit. From there it has all gone down below sea level. Since 2007 I have received my certificate as a SSI divemaster, my PADI instructor certificate from the PADI headquarters in San Diego, California, Red Cross, Saint John First Aid, DAN First Aid, and my AED (difibulator) certificate. In 2008 I received my first FM3 to work in Mexico as an Independent Dive Instructor. I enjoy teaching young to old at different levels to be the best diver they can be. From that first breath in the pool to night diving and perfecting skills, I love it all. Come join us below, where you will forget about the world above.

Howdy out there in the land of divers and non-divers.  I began my diving career free-diving for abalone off the northern coast of California wich along with spearfishing put a lot of great meals on the table.  I've been diving for since 1973 and began a long career in diving, first with NASDS, then PADI, then SSI, and finally back to PADI.  I retired from the real world as a research psychologist and moved to San Carlos, Son. Mexico where I continue to teach regular open water courses as well as some exotic courses such as conchology and fish identification.  Like Johan above, I have received my second FM3 to work in Mexico as an Independent Dive Instructor, working closely with local dive stores such as Gary's, who like myself, has been diving for over 30 years and is still at it.  We have a great team with a tremendous about of experience, divirsity, and interests including plain ol' beach dives with a bar-b-que and good food, to exotic dives to San Pedro Island and the north coast of Sonora.  Drop a snorkel line on us and see what you think.

Welcome

Feb 28 Water down to 64 F in Lalos Cove. Vis 20 ft. There is a lot of muddy water around in the bay. Pick your dive site smart.

Feb 13 No jelly-stingers today. 68-70 F and vis 25 ft.

Feb 6 Sill 68-70 F. We had some nasty jelly-stingers in the water. Did not see the jelly itself. Vis 20 ft.

Jan 28 south wind blew in warmer water. Lalos Cove 68-70 F. Vis about 25 ft. Saw Sea Horse at 12 ft.

Jan 17 Still 66 and 64. Vis 30 ft.

Jan 7 Still 66 and 64 F at 100 ft. Vis 40-50 ft. Spotted 3 whales west from the Island.

Dec 29 San Pedro Island. 66 F and 45 ft vis. Sea lion pups are big enough to go play without mom. This is a good time to go make some new friends. Great photo opportunities.

Dec 28 Nice surprice, water back up to 66 F on local dives. Good vis  25 feet.

Dec 23 Beautifull days to be out on the water. 63 -65 F. Great to do some clamming.

Dec 20 Oeps! Down to 64 F.

Dec 17 A perfect day at Lalos Cove. A big school (200+) of nice Lisa right of the beach with some needlenose, Baracuda and Jack mixed in. There are white caps farther out, but the bay is flat. Vis 30 ft and a whopping 73F. Lots of early Christmas presents.

Dec 6 Lets add jumping Manta Rays for a perfect day. 71 F and 20 ft vis along the coast.

Nov 28 ORCA'S ARE BACK Dolphins on the way to San Pedro, 72 and 73 F. Vis not so good 15-20 ft. Good enough for a good sea lion dive. Orca's on the way home. At least 2 big males, 5 females and 3 babies.
